Unistentialism: A Framework for Ontological Unity

Zachary Wiese, The One Life Foundation
Abstract: Unistentialism is a philosophical framework that explores the nature of identity, consciousness, and ethics through the lens of ontological unity. It proposes that all beings are not isolated selves but expressions of a singular, living whole—"the One Life." Rooted in monism, systems theory, and mysticism, Unistentialism seeks to bridge metaphysics with lived experience, offering both a reflective model for individual meaning and a guiding principle for collective ethics. Drawing inspiration from Spinoza, deep ecology, Frithjof Capra’s systems view, and mystical traditions like Advaita Vedanta and Sufism, Unistentialism builds on the idea that what we perceive as separate is in fact a localized perspective within a shared field of being. It frames compassion as the natural response of the whole to itself, and personal uniqueness as the means by which the One Life diversifies its expression. The framework includes three key essays: 1. Unistentialism: One Life, Many Expressions – Core metaphysical structure and principles 2. Contrasting Unistentialism with Other Philosophical Perspectives – Critical comparison to classical and modern thought 3. Empirical Touchpoints – Connections to developmental psychology, neuroscience, and the science of consciousness Unistentialism is not offered as a replacement for religion or scientific method, but as a lens for coherence—a conceptual bridge between poetic insight, academic rigor, and ethical practice.
